Troubleshooting Guide
For Gmail Users (in Google Chrome)
If clicking a button doesn't open a new Gmail tab, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome Settings: In your Chrome browser, type or paste this into the address bar at the top and press Enter:
chrome://settings/handlers
- Allow Handlers: A settings page will open. Make sure the switch at the top, labeled "Allow sites to ask to become default handlers for protocols", is turned on (it should be blue).
- Visit Gmail: Open a new tab and go to your Gmail inbox by visiting mail.google.com.
- Click the Handler Icon: In the address bar (to the right of the URL), you should see an icon that looks like two overlapping diamonds. Click this icon.
- Allow Gmail: A small window will pop up. Select "Allow" and then click "Done".
- Reload and Try Again: Come back to this page, reload it, and the "Send Email" buttons should now open a new Gmail compose window.
For Mac Users (to use Apple Mail)
To make sure email links open in the Apple Mail application:
- Open the Mail App: Find and open the "Mail" application on your Mac (it has a blue icon with a white envelope).
- Open Settings: With the Mail app open, look at the top-left corner of your screen. Click on "Mail" in the menu bar, and then select "Settings..." (or "Preferences..." on older macOS versions).
- Set the Default: A new window will appear. Click on the "General" tab. Look for the dropdown menu labeled "Default email reader:" and select "Mail.app" from the list.
- Close and Try Again: You can now close the settings window. The "Send Email" buttons on this page should now open the Mail app.
For Windows 10/11 Users (Outlook / Mail)
To set your default email program in Windows:
- Open Windows Settings: Click the Start Menu in the bottom-left of your screen, then click the gear icon labeled "Settings".
- Go to Apps: In the Settings window, click on "Apps".
- Find Default Apps: On the left side menu, click "Default apps".
- Set Email Default: Scroll down until you see an icon and the word "Email". Click on it. A list of installed email programs will appear. Select the one you want to use (e.g., Outlook, Mail).
- Close and Try Again: Close the settings window. The "Send Email" buttons should now work correctly.
